Wolf Lake is a small village located in Jackson County, Illinois, United States. According to the 2010 Census, the population was 302. The village sits on the southern end of the Lake of Egypt, a man-made lake spanning over 2,300 acres. Wolf Lake is served by the Cobden Unit School District. The village is mostly residential, with a few small businesses and a post office. The area around Wolf Lake was once a center for the region's coal mining industry, but the mines have since shut down. The village is named after the nearby lake and the pack of wolves that once roamed the area.
